Want high-quality cosmetics in Hong Kong, but don’t want to pay sky-high prices?

In our humble opinion Cult Beauty is the best store for cosmetics in Hong Kong. They stock a wide range of super high-quality cosmetics at affordable prices. See our in-depth review below or read our other reviews.

Best Cult Beauty skincare products of 2021 and Best Cult Beauty makeup products 2021.

Here at SavvyinHK, we feel your pain – the prices can get rather expensive. Luckily, the city is full of affordable and quality makeup options, too.

In this article, we also will cover where to buy a variety of makeup, including:

  • Long-lasting Italian makeup products
  • Designer makeup without Hong Kong prices
  • Korean and Japanese makeup

We’ve rounded up a list of the best places to buy affordable yet high-quality Hong Kong cosmetics both online and in-store.

1. Cult Beauty – Online beauty store selling well-regarded cosmetics

Cult Beauty stocks Huda lipstick

Why we chose it:

  • Fabulous website selling only high-quality cosmetics and skincare products – you will qualify for free shopping with orders over £60 (~HK$660).
  • Are you looking for makeup products that are actually effective? Cult Beauty is the insider’s guide to the world’s best beauty products, from skincare to makeup.
  • Each of Cult Beauty’s products is carefully selected for efficacy and stand-alone excellence.

What we like:

What we don’t like:

  • Buying cosmetics can be tricky. How can you know it’s the right shade? The good thing about buying items from the Cult Beauty website is a large number of reviews – it cuts through these worries when you can check out what actual customers have said.

Summary:

  • One more great thing; you can knock 20% off all the prices online! When you get your makeup shipped to Hong Kong, they knock off the UK VAT, which gives you a nice discount at the checkout.
  • When I’ve ordered from Cult Beauty, I’ve not had problems; my products arrived a few days later. Plus, when you put in an order of over £60 (~HK$660), shipping is free.
  • Compared to Sephora, we have found from our own experience that you can expect to pay approximately 20% less for products bought at Cult Beauty.

2. Kiko Milano – Long-lasting inexpensive cosmetics in Hong Kong

For high-quality inexpensive makeup products we absolutely love the cosmetics brand Kiko Milano. Their products are all clinically-tested with proven results.

Why we chose it:

  • Have you checked out the Kiko Milano makeup stores in Hong Kong? These cosmetic products are gorgeous looking with a cool minimalist design that’s all about the products’ quality.

  • Kiko Milano was created more than 20 years ago with the specific purpose of producing professional-grade makeup at reasonable prices.
  • The brand uses clinical tests to prove each and every Kiko Milano product’s effectiveness; you can rest easy knowing that the products were made with care.
  • I found the staff to be super helpful; they really knew their products.

What we like:

  • Specializing in high-pigment eyeshadow, long-lasting lipstick, and beautiful bronzers and blushes.
  • Our favorite Kiko Milano cosmetics products are:
    – Long-Lasting Eyeshadow Stick
    – High Pigment Eyeshadow
    – Kohl-based Long-Lasting Eyeliner

What we don’t like:

  • They have fewer stores in Hong Kong than previously. We miss their store in IFC. So, if you come across a Kiko Milano store, don’t hesitate! Go straight inside and try their products.

Summary:

  • Importantly, Kiko Milano products are long-lasting. You can expect a similar quality to NARS and MAC Cosmetics but at prices around 50% of these more well-known brands.
  • Check the products out in-store, and you’ll instantly understand the quality you’re getting. Unfortunately, you can’t buy these products online in Hong Kong but, if you stumble upon one of their five stores, do yourself a favor, go inside and try a few products.

What we don’t like:

  • Even though Strawberrynet sells a huge variety of brands, they only sell certain products from each brand. So, if you want to buy a specific product, you may or may not find it on this website.

Summary:

  • If you’re looking for online makeup shopping in Hong Kong, here’s another incentive for you: purchases over HK $300 on Strawberrynet get free delivery in Hong Kong.

You can pick up products from The Ordinary for about half the price of other brands that have the same active ingredients.

What we don’t like:

  • The range of cosmetics brands that Sasa stocks are relatively limited; if you are searching for specific cosmetics brands, you may not find them here.

Summary:

  • Hong Kong Sasa has makeup stores all over Hong Kong, including quite a few in Tsim Sha Tsui. They have more than 100 locations across Hong Kong.

6. Mong Kok Argyle Centre – Great for Korean and Japanese cosmetics

Mong Kok Argyle Centre is well known for selling Korean and Japan cosmetics at low prices.
