We believe that Caritas Dental Clinic offers the best treatment and value. See our full review below.

Do you know your dental health is closely associated with your overall health?

Practicing good dental health not only makes your teeth look great but also keeps your mouth and gums healthy. Therefore, looking after your mouth and teeth should be a priority.

However, if you’re not careful, even the most minor dental treatment in Hong Kong might burn a hole in your pocket.

In Hong Kong, the cost of seeing a dentist varies greatly (just like for other health practitioners).

While we can’t say that any type of dental care in Hong Kong is cheap, we’ve done our best to dig around to try to help shed some light on dental care in Hong Kong.

Dental care is definitely cheaper in other parts of the world, but right now, with so many travel restrictions, it means more and more people need to get dental care done here in Hong Kong.

In addition to covering the best affordable dentists in Hong Kong, this article will also cover:

  • When you should visit a dentist
  • The cost of seeing a dentist in Hong Kong
  • Dental health care services offered by the public healthcare system

When should I see a dentist?

People should visit a dentist twice a year to keep their dental health in check as a norm. It will make it easier for a specialist to treat your dental issues when they are minor.

However, many people visit a dentist only when there is some serious teeth problem; this should be avoided. Here are some common oral problems that indicate it’s time to see a dentist:

  • Swelling in the tooth or severe pain: Signs like these should not be ignored as it indicates a deeper problem, which, if left untreated, can result in pain and infection.
  • Plaque, tartar, and cavities: Despite regular brushing and flossing, there may be areas in the mouth that get missed, leading to plaque, tartar, and cavities. So seeing a dentist is the best way to get any hidden areas deep-cleaned.
  • Inflamed gums: This is another big reason to visit a dentist immediately. Red, swollen, and sore gums could indicate possible gum disease. Infection, bacteria, and plaque could be the cause.
  • Mouth injury: Any injury or trauma to your mouth urgently needs a dentist’s attention, whether you feel any pain or not. Sometimes there is internal damage that only a teeth doctor can check and treat.
  • Tooth sensitivity: Though sensitive teeth can be treated with special toothpaste, sometimes you might experience extreme sensitivity to hot and cold.
  • Bad breath: This can a big warning sign indicating an oral problem that needs to be addressed. A persistent foul smell may indicate any one of the following: poor oral hygiene, gum disease, dry mouth, mouth sores, wiggly teeth, pigmentation, or tobacco consumption.
